6 month check up
weight = 17 lbs and 15.5 oz (57%)
height = 27.5 inches (82%)
head circum. = 17.5 inches (68%)
Dr. Kessinger opened up his menu to include table foods except for eggs, fish, nuts and honey. He wants us to start letting John feed himself (with his hands of course) at the highchair - the dogs are going to LOVE this!
We asked the Dr. about the crib bumpers (as they have never been in since John started sleeping in his crib) and he said not to put them now because of choking hazard. So I suppose we will have to continue to let John CHEW on the crib rails! Spending a fortune on monogrammed bumpers was a very pitiful first time parent mistake - I think the 2nd child will be lucky to get a sheet, much less bumpers! :)
Sadly, our hope of minimal tooth pain has gone. John has his 2 bottom teeth, but with the Dr.'s help yesterday, we were able to see very swollen top gums; and John has not been sleeping well at all. However, last night he slept until 6:00am this morning... cross your fingers.

Tuesdays with Nana and Grandpa

He even has his own jungle nursery, filled with pictures of animal mamas and their babies.

g is much higher on the list! Although...the naps are getting longer and I think Nana starts to miss him if he sleeps for more than an hour. Their days are filled with peek-a-boo games, grape sacks, stuffed puppies and a lot of smiles! I am not sure which of the three of them love Tuesdays the most!Wednesday, August 13, 2008

John vs. the Dogs
Although neither of the dogs are extremely thrilled with John, Bailee and Kallie have very differing opinions about him. Bailee loves to be close during or soon after a meal as she can lick his hands and face and clean him all up. Kallie....well, she takes a more hands off approach; sh
e would be perfectly happy if he would sleep all day. Kallie has learned that once John is down for the night, she gets Mom and Dad all to herself. As soon as I come down from the nursery, she makes her way to both of us and gets her nightly love.
No matter what they think of him - he LOVES them! Anytime he is starting to get cranky, just call a dog over and - BAM - instant smile. A sneeze or a shake gets a full out laugh from him, it is pretty funny to watch.
We can not wait to see them all together as he gets older and can start playing with them. Probably will not be too much fun for the dogs until he learns to control his hands a bit better and stops grabbing and pulling anything he can get ahold of as they walk by.

FIRST TOOTH
On another note, he has slept through the night (8:00pm to 7:30am) the last four nights in a row - Here's hoping it sticks....
